I replied [the entry below], to 'Unhinged's' comment. But since I don't usually return to re-read things in blogs myself, thought I'd make it, a new entry today... BEFORE reading any more news! BEFORE seeing any new controversy, which must have erupted, overnight. :-( I'm just gonna' stay happy, for a while. >,-)
--------------------------------
Saw this news last night, and haven't looked for any new news, this morning. [So I won't be upset by reading anything disturbing, for a bit more time.] >,-) So I can still say the following 'happy stuff' about it. ,-)
--The quiet way in which the new "Powers That Be" went about making this decision, makes me VERY happy. Classy! Bodes well for the making of 'New Moon.'
--The quiet way in which Taylor went about convincing them, makes me appreciate him even more. It shows more maturity than I'd usually expect from a 16 year old. Yesss!
--Face it, though I love most of the 'Twilight' casting -- It's not totally following the book. So why does the 'Changing Jacob' _have_ to look quite AS tall, muscular, etc., as our imaginations made him... when reading the book?
--If 'Emmet' didn't have to have the dark, curly hair [which made Rosalie save him]... And if 'Alice' can be taller and not have all-spiky-hair ... And if 'Rosalie' can NOT look like the most beautiful female on the planet... Then why does the 'Jacob' character have to become so huge?
--Since Taylor made me really like 'Jacob,' in 'Twilight,' I will give the actor the benefit of the doubt and believe that he can _play_ the changing, more mature 'Jacob.'
--They even did that "chemistry with 'Bella" test!!! ,-) And it convinced The Powers That Be. Personally, I accept it, even without their testing.
--If this decision causes too much controversy, I'll simply stop reading about continuing controversy. I'm finally coming to the point where I can relax a bit, concerning 'New Moon.' And I'm gonna' enjoy that relaxation, for awhile. :-))))

Wait, they DID? They had Taylor kiss Kristen?! Where'd you see this? Where? Where?
And for me, it's not that Movie Jacob has to look like Book Jacob...I just have to see a compelling change in his appearance. Twilight Movie Jacob didn't scare me at all, and I want to be a little scared of New Moon Jacob.
And I also have to feel there's enough sexual tension between he and Bella to feel a twinge of pain/sorrow because he's not Bella's choice (otherwise I'll just be sighing through the whole movie and biting my nails until Bella goes running off to Italy).
'Unhinged'... You asked about my saying they did a chemistry test. Found it!!!!!!!!! [Wow, I am amazing, aren't I"""] -grin-
It's an article on EW dot com. Link to it by clicking here. It's on Pg. 2 of the article. Scroll down to near end of 2nd paragraph...
"EW has confirmed that the actor has not only met with director Weitz, but was even screen-tested for chemistry with Kristen Stewart."
See? Don't know what the test was but, that's the quote.

Unhinged; "...I want to be a little scared of New Moon Jacob."
'Jacob' in 'Twilight,' isn't scary. He just has a crush on 'Bella.' But, I think in the outside-the-prom scene [which Catherine brought them back, to shoot later, I think I read] where Jacob delivered his father's message to Bella... When Edward came back, I got a bit of an inkling [about Jacob], that he wasn't just being a kid with a crush, anymore.
Now, if Taylor can build on this, I hope he can do the job.
I wrote more, but really have to fully re-read 'New Moon' before saying anymore. Because I zipped through so much of it, the first time. Just wanting Edward to be back. ,-)
So I'll wait till I re-read it, to give any more of my feelings on the Jacob part.
But we've just scratched the surface on viewpoints, I'm sure. Which is great!!!
Oh and did you read a release date for 'Twilight' dvd? I did and forgot where. Maybe the same date [in Feb.] as film was released on, last Nov.???
Tessa
March 21st...but the date of the DVD isn't written in stone.
